19TH C. WOOD MOTSCHMANN

A rare Motschmann.... made of wood....French.

We are not used to seeing this doll in America.   I have handled several of these in my career and all were found in France (except for this one). We must not have imported many into our country at the time of their manufacture. I would date him as circa 1870-80.

He stands 17 1/2"  tall.  Both the wood sections and the fabric sections of the doll are original and in excellent condition. There is only normal wear to the hands. There is a squeeker in his mid section and it works

He has wonderful painted curls.....and almost a smiling mouth.

If you love Motschmanns, you will want to add this unusual and rare one to your collection. The few wood Motschmanns I have seen, were never found in this great condition.

A LOVELY, SWEET SCHOENHUT CHARACTER GIRL

I love this doll.  She has such a serene, sweet face. And for me, she has just the right amount of facial distress.  I prefer Schoenhuts that have NOT been restored or "touched up" and have some minor paint loss......we know they were loved!   This child has brown intaglio eyes and full lips and a lovely, soft expression.  A beautiful full, original wig in brown mohair crowns her head.  Her body is in excellent condition, both visually and mechanically.  Measuring 19" tall, she is a rather large example.  Her dress is an appropriately styled remake.

14th Blue Book price for this child is between $1800 and $1300.  My price of $895. is very reasonable.

A fine  example of a Schoenhut character girl for your collection.
